Shannon's Elastic Hair Ties

A while ago, I saw this post from Shannon about how she had started to use elastic hair ties with no metal in to avoid damaging her hair. Ever since I cut my hair short in July, I've been trying harder than ever to try to make sure it's in a good condition so it'll grow a bit faster and actually be healthy once it's long, so I thought these hair ties sounded like a brilliant idea! What I didn't realise when she managed to sell me the idea of creaseless hair bands at the start of the post was that she had accidentally made too many of her own, so of course I couldn't help but take some off her hands!

She made them available on eBay here for just £3 for 5 hairbands, which is better than some brands are charging for normal elastic ones these days!
When I received them, I was so happy with them. All 5 of the colours are so cute and there's two patterns, a chevron and one with little flower-shapes on them. The bands are a perfect size, I have fairly little wrists and they fit me nicely, but since they are elastic, they will stretch to fit any bigger! She sent them on a piece of brown card with a heart punched out of, which I thought was just too gosh-darn cute for me to not take a picture of.
I've been using these for a few weeks now and I've been really impressed. They hold my hair nicely without letting any slip out, but they don't cause me any pain and I'm not getting any kinks from them. I've been wearing my hair in two plaits for bed most nights and in the morning, I'm let with a nice wave that isn't ruined by having kinks at the ends like I used to with normal hair bands.
In general, I'm really impressed with these hair bands! I thought a hair band was just a hair band (how many times can Megan say hair band?!) but these have shown me that actually, you can still get a lot of function, be good to your hair and have them look cute at the same time! Even if I've not been using them, I've loved wearing the blue and the grey ones around my wrist because I just think they look so cool!
The only thing that I'm worried about with these hair bands are that the knot may come undone, but I can't imagine it'll be too hard to tie them back up again - much easier than a normal hair band which is sealed with a metal bar or special glue!
Are there any brands you would recommend that do creaseless elastic hair ties, in case (god forbid!) I lose any of these?
If you're interested in picking up a pack of these from Shannon, she still has 4 packs left on her eBay as of me writing this post!

  1. Really great review. I have some hair bands with no metal or glue, I guess it was sewed at the ends to make a circle.
They're a bit puffy, different sizes, so this item is just the thing to tie up, than loop the hair band around the hair. They look good, plus they remind me of ribbons but difference is that they're elastic. Genius.

    1. I think they're so cute because the ends of the tie stick out when you make a ponytail and they look like a ribbon, I just love them :) the fact that they're good for your hair is even more of a bonus! x

    1. Thank you! I find my skin tends to clear up faster if I keep my hair off my face - less likely to get oils etc coming into contact with your skin :) x

  6. I really want these hairbands, I keep meaning to buy them but never do and then I'll see someone with one on their wrist and I suddenly remember. I always thought they were kind of bad as hairbands but just looked good as an accessory, I didn't know they were such good hairbands!:)x

    1. I know what you mean, I remember when they became 'big' on YouTube and thinking they were a bit overrated but I genuinely love these - as much as you can love a hairband haha! x
