January 2015

I'm thinking of starting something new on here where I take a picture of my calendar at the end of every month and talk about some of the noteworthy things that happened to me this month - what do you guys think?

The Netflix Tag!

This tag was created by Alice Spake at Annie Writes Beauty as a way for fellow Netflix addicts to share what they’ve been watching and discover new shows that others love. Thank you Alice, as Netflix is my obsession right after beauty! And thank you to Jo at Miss Josiana for tagging me (and also for unknowingly letting me steal your introduction!)

January 2015 Birchbox

I recently subscribed to Birchbox to see what I think of it so I thought that today I'd do a quick little overview of what I got in this month's box!  This month they've teamed up with Women's Health to create a box that creates two of my favourite things - beauty and fitness. I'm not sure whether I'll be keeping the boxes for my Birchboxes every month like most people tend to do, but I certainly will be keeping this one - it's so darn cute!

My Attempt at YouTube!

The lovely Kayleigh (VeryBerryCosmo) posted a link on Twitter last week to her latest YouTube video and it reminded me of the time last summer when I attempted to make my own YouTube channel, so I figured that today, I would share some of the videos with you all!
All of the videos on my channel are now Unlisted aside from my Document Your Life videos because I love them too much to not let other people watch them, but the rest are an exclusive for all of you reading this post!

Does this make me a grown-up lady now?

Getting To The Gym!

(If you cannot tell by how tiny I am and also how long my hair is, this is quite an old picture, but it's one of the most recent photos of me actually working out in the gym!)
Ever since I started going to the gym over a year ago, I've really grown to love it! I'll be honest in saying I didn't warm to it instantly, but now it's one of my favourite ways to spend 'me' time. So today I thought I'd share a few of my tips, now that it's the middle of January and you may be lacking in that 'New Year, New Me' spirit that made you join up in the first place and encourage you to keep going!

The Children Act

This one is a bit of a cheat as I've already finished it, but I've decided I want to try and do a post about every book I read this year so I thought I'd do one anyway!

My New Coat!

So far I've avoided doing outfit posts on my blog because I don't have anyone to take pictures for me really but frankly, I love this coat too much not to feature it so excuse how awkward some of these pictures are!

The British Tag

Hello! I'm feeling a wee bit awful today as I've come down with the flu recently but fortunately, I've been scheduling posts for a while so I'm hoping I will barely even remember how ill I feel whilst writing this when it actually goes up. Ever since Sammi from The Beauty Crush posted this tag, I've wanted to do it so I decided that today is the perfect time to sit down and do it!

Securities vs. Insecurities

After seeing this post on Aymie's Blog a little while ago, I was really inspired to write something similar of my own, so today I've decided to talk about what I do and don't like about myself.
I think in society, we're encouraged to be secure in ourselves and to love ourselves, yet if we ever said we did not have any insecurities, we would be seen as cocky and arrogant, so you just can't win really! At the end of the day, there's always going to be something that we dislike about ourselves but I prefer to look at them as something to improve on, rather than something to get down about. At the end of the day, we are the ones living in our own bodies, so it is our opinions that matter more than anyone else's.

Mr Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore

If you follow many Booktubers on Youtube, you may recognise this book. A lot of people started reading it last year so I added it to my Christmas list as a lot of the people I followed recommended it, but once I got it, I never actually got around to reading it! I think I started in the weeks following Christmas but then distracted and never made it past about Page 50... I've been awful with my reading lately and I figured that a book all about bookshops would help kickstart me into doing it a bit more, right? Well, yes in a way, I'm well over halfway through the book now so it's definitely helped me get back into the swing of things, but I was so wrong with what this book is about!

The Little Princess Trust!

I mentioned in this post last week that I've been trying my best to keep my hair in good condition whilst it grows out again, and I thought now might be a good time to do a post explaining why I decided to cut my hair off in the first place!
When I was about 13 years old, I discovered a charity - and I can't remember what it was called - that accepted donations of hair to be turned into wigs for people who had lost their hair due to illnesses such as cancer, but the one flaw was that they were insistent that the hair had to be free of any chemicals like hair dye or perms etc. At the time, I had highlighted hair and I was gutted that I couldn't donate it, as it was something that really interested me!

Candy Canes Candles in January?

Personally, I absolutely adore Christmas candles but I do think they have their time and their place. That's not so much because I don't want to smell the candles in the middle of July, but I associate scents and memories really strongly together so I don't really want to make my Christmas candles less special by mixing them with summer memories, if that makes any sense?

The Winter Blues(-Greys)

If I had to say what my favourite colour nail polish to wear, it would be a mix between blues and greys, and I just think they're perfect to wear all year round! Today I thought I'd do a post about my three favourite shades.

December Photo Challenge

Hey guys! Just to let you know that I've had a little clean up of my blog and I've condensed my photo challenge into one page, just to condense it all into one space!
You can find it here if you're interested and this photo shows what the challenge entailed.
I really enjoyed doing it and it was a great way to get excited in the run-up to Christmas! Unfortunately I lost track of it after Christmas Day and decided to stop doing it, so consider it more of a Christmas Countdown (which I also did on my Instagram) if you're interested in seeing a bit more of my life!

Shannon's Elastic Hair Ties

A while ago, I saw this post from Shannon about how she had started to use elastic hair ties with no metal in to avoid damaging her hair. Ever since I cut my hair short in July, I've been trying harder than ever to try to make sure it's in a good condition so it'll grow a bit faster and actually be healthy once it's long, so I thought these hair ties sounded like a brilliant idea! What I didn't realise when she managed to sell me the idea of creaseless hair bands at the start of the post was that she had accidentally made too many of her own, so of course I couldn't help but take some off her hands!

2015

2014 was a huge year for me. Huge. It wasn't a particularly great year, but a whole load of important things happened to me and my life certainly wouldn't be the same if they hadn't! I'm so grateful to everyone who has entered my life in the past year and I'm sad to see most of the people who have left it go. As a person, I've grown up and matured more than I would have ever imagined, which I hope is a good thing!
